    Description

Straat’s 1937 Patent Refractometer the patent for which was assigned to Bausch & Lomb. The patent was an overall one for a refractometer but according to patent filing:  “The present invention relates to refractometers and more particularly to a prism system and prism box therefor.” Height as shown in first image: 12.5? or 31.25 cm.  For more details enter the patent number (2080841) in Google’s Advanced Patent Search.  Shows evidence of use but overall in quite good condition.
This instrument is in very nice used condition. The mirror surface is excellent. The prism box opens easily. The angle arm with lens works smoothly. Serial# LD9642 tells you it is a 1947. There is an inventory# 1363-011 from some institution scribed into the base. There is NO case with this.
