We build our cars by an unusual process. By hand.
Building cars by hand, from the chassis up, takes a lot of time. That's why we only build about 500 TVR's a year. For the entire world.
But building cars this way gives our car, and you, some remarkable advantages over most other sports cars.
Our hand-welded chassis.
Every TVR is built with a rigid, multi-tube, space-frame chassis. Hand welded for strength and safety. It's protected on the outside by a thick rubberized undercoating. And protected on the inside by a special oil sprayed into all chassis cavities. This special oil process is called TVR Inner-Coating.
And every TVR is built with an unstressed fiberglass body made from the finest materials. And finished in hand-rubbed lacquer.
Front mid-engine design.
Just as some other mid-engine sports cars have their engines in front of their rear wheels, the TVR has its engine in back of the front wheels.
This unique design gives the TVR (with a driver) near-perfect weight distribution and
balance. In fact, it gives our car better weight
distribution than just about any other sports
car in the world. And it puts our cornering ability in the Ferrari Dino and Pantera class. Beyond Porsche 914 2.0 liter, Jensen-Healey and Corvette.
Engineering - Performance - Economy

In every TVR you'll find the same kind of features that you'll find in other limited production sports cars. Sports cars that cost a lot more money. Features like rack and pinion steering, 4-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension, power-assisted front disc brakes, an OHV in-line six — proven in millions of miles of driving, a 4-speed, all-synchro gearbox, cast alloy wheels with Pirelli Cinturato HR series radials, and full instrumentation. All standard.
As well as the economy of 26 miles per gallon of regular (according to a test by Road & Track Magazine).
Our first TVR. More than 20 years ago.
In 1952, TVR Engineering, Ltd. started building the first TVR s in Blackpool, England. And not long after, we started racing them. At Sebring, Bridgehampton, Limerock, and all the major racing circuits in Great Britain.
We understand the excitement of performance. And the importance of safety.
That's why the TVR is built the way it is today. Because, twenty years ago, a few race car drivers and builders got together to build an exhilarating, durable, safe and affordable precision sports car.
And we're still building them today.

TVR … remember when “Sports Car” meant something special?
Originally the sports car was a quick race-bred car built for use on the highway. Then, not long ago, came mass production and the end of individuality and distinction as a feature of the sports car.
Now the pride of owning a unique well-mannered machine designed for the road in true sports car tradition is back with the TVR 2500. The TVR is an uncompromising performer, recently rated among the finest regardless of price for cornering ability by ROAD & TRACK magazine. It is a front mid-engine car with the machinery tucked well-inside the wheelbase on a multi-tubular space frame chassis...a highly advanced design duplicated only in racing cars costing considerably more.
But we feel a sports car should be more than just a fantastic performer. It should be a unique machine that lets its owner express his individuality. So the production of the TVR 2500 is limited, only 400 or so are available in the United States yearly.
The body and chassis are still hand crafted with English precision. The engine and transmission, however, are mass-produced for high reliability and virtually world-wide availability of parts.
All of this in a car that’s moderately priced, gets great gas mileage, and is inexpensive to maintain.
