    According to another eBayer who did some research, the unit is from a FJ-2 1950s vintage carrier based fighter which means it's probably for lowering and raising the arresting hook for carrier landings. The FJ-2 is a actually a F86 modified for carrier operations.
    The box is labeled Pitch Drive. The jack screw is 32 and ½ inches in length with a screw diameter of about 1 ¼ inches. The drive motor is labeled:

    The unit looks new or remanufactured but I have no way of testing the motor so it is being sold as is. It is packed in the original US Govt. packing and weighs over 25 pounds.
