Large petrographic thin section slide of speleothem in travertine Borsec Romania

Description

This is a very large (non standard) petrographic slide (5 x 7 cm) of a speleothem collected in travertine from the classic locality of Borsec, Romania, main quarry (see pics for coordinates)
The slide was polished on both sides with cerium oxide of 4000 grit.
Intricate layers are seen at fine details especially when scanning the slide with cross polarized light and UV light (due to Manganese impurities). See pictures! These are complete scans of the sample and are available full scale here:
